There are plenty of fabulous restaurants in and around the scenic main square in Pollenca Mallorca but step just a few paces beyond and into the old town and you will find many more.
Cantonet http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g319793-d1000780-Reviews-Cantonet-Pollenca_Majorca_Balearic_Islands.html was recommended to us by friends and exceeded expectations not least for the wonderful service.
Behind the attractive dining room is a small courtyard which was the place to be on a balmy September evening. Quiet when we arrived and buzzing with activity two hours later.
A complimentary glass of cava started the meal accompanied by that Mallorcan favourite of alioli http://www.mallorcacuisine.com/en/spanish-recipes/alioli-garlic-mayonnaise/ olives and bread.
Starters of aubergine and tomato and a Mallorcan variation of ceasar salad with chicken came next and yes one to share would probably have been plenty.
Lovely main courses of fish with Mediterranean vegetables and pork tenderloin in a creamy cheese sauce.
I went there and it was atrocious. They couldn't even cook Carbonara. The staff were rude once I complained. Very expensive for average food.
ReplyDeleteThe Chef / Owner started shouting .... a child can cook better carbonara than I was given. Terrible. Give it a miss.
